Probably the most important thing besides a loving home is a healthy diet. Sphynx eat more food than other hairy breeds due to them lacking fur to keep them warm, thus giving them a higher metabolic rate to keep their body warm. At Hallows Sphynx we feed a raw diet to our cats which we order through our local butcher. While the kittens are growing we also feed a small amount of biscuits to aid in their dental health, once they are old enough we recommend feeding raw necks or wing tips for this instead.

The benefits of feeding a raw diet are many. Your cat will have healthier skin and better oil control which is important for Sphynx. If you ask any of our Hallows family, they will tell you the best thing about a raw diet is the reduced smell. It is so noticeable even from a day of using a back up meal or a cheat day for your kitty. And you might think a fully meat based diet would be more expensive than sachet food, but over time it’s actually less. Because a raw diet is a full and complete diet, your cat gets everything they need in a smaller amount of food.
